Ceilis Irish Pub, 670 Smithe St., Downtown Vancouver (near Smithe & Granville)

One free drink per person.  Enough free appetizers to go around.

Let's get a good crowd.  Good for the league, and let's support Ceilis with their generous support of the league.

Captains Meeting (others welcome):  Sunday, Sept. 07, @ 6pm - Kits Gym.

Please try and ensure that each team sends a rep.

Some topics to be discussed:

1) Fall league structure

2) League costs & payment

3) Rosters

4) Subs -- we will look at allowing some subbing between Divisions - subbing up only.

5) On court rules

6) The game -- changes?

Minutes of meeting - key points:

1) Good attendance - about 15 captains in attendance.  Excellent meeting.  Thanks to the captains. Some captains present: Vince (TT), Mike (BTR), Chad (BCases), Sean (Abu. Pk.), Sarah (Shake), Dylan (TD), J'Anna (Gnarls), Kasia (Got Game), Brian (Blaze), Cody (Badgers), Catherine (Bench), Steve (Suns), Mer (Barrage).  Sorry if I missed a few names.

2) Agreement to keep the 3 Division structure, even if a couple of BYEs are required.  With 28 teams, one option was to go to 2 Divisions of 14 teams each.   This would have been a 15 week season vs. a 20 wk. season.

3) Backboard damage.  Biraj to look into insurance.  Captains agreed to keep the current damage assessments if the backboard comes down again, i.e., responsible team billed $500, and the rest of the payments distributed equally throughout the league.  Biraj to try and schedule Div.1 teams as much as possible out of Kerrisdale.  One Div.3 captain questioned damage assessments against them, considering Div. 3 players cannot dunk.  General consensus to not excluded Div. 3 from assessments.

4) Cross subbing.  League to allow limited interdivisional cross subbing, but only subbing up.  Div. 1 cannot sub for Div.2 or Div. 3, but reverse is okay.

5) League costs accepted as okay.

6) Discussed 5 second rule.  Please see rules.  For this season, we will implement this rule. In close games, i.e. if one team is up by 2 or 3 points, and there are 20 to 30 seconds left in the game, the team ahead with the ball must shoot with at least 5 seconds left.  If clock does not stop at exactly 5 seconds or less, clock will be reset to 5 seconds.  Team down, must save a time out for this situation, and must call a timeout to get the reset to 5 seconds, and the ball at half court.

7) Rules to be updated.

8) Monitoring.  Teams must monitor last games at each center as assigned.  Discussed the option of self monitoring, but this was rejected.

9) Website is primary reference for info, including schedule.
